The ultimate vinyl-o-phile record player, for the truly hipster

While the bass may be solid the highs are very sibilant with lots of
hiss.

But that is good, old-fashioned analog hiss.

I was thinking of a "wetter" kind of hiss, more like that of an old
steam heat radiator.

steam heat radiator.
That is what I was assuming. What can be more analog than that fluid,
rounded sound of heated water vapour escaping? So much more organic than
the crude, edgy "digital" sound created by electrons...

the sound of the sex pistols is barely audible above the steam sounds,
I'm sure Sid would have approved.

Great find and an excellent video.

After watching the video I think that this record player should only be
used to play the soundtrack from "The Great Train Robbery"
which of course is a silent film.

question: Would the steam turntable be driving the flame speakers or
would the flame speakers be driving the steam turntable?

Okay time for even more audiophile humor.

I hope that the steam powered turntable is using triple distilled RO
water, any other water would just add a graininess to the sound from the
trace minerals in the water.

One would imagine that the flame would definitely color the sound so the
choice of fuel for the flame would very important. Any chemists out
there? What fuel for the Blues?

Oh no, you really need to buy the special mono-molecule audiophile water
from a tibetan mountain stream, that has then been processed by playing
for 100 hours of Fleetwood Mac to the bottle of water. Only
$999/bottle.

What fuel for the Blues? Alcohol?
We all know alcohol makes the music sound better....

Fleetwood Mac? I would think something with a little more audiophile
pedigree. Perhaps water from the Pawn Shop jazz club, of "Jazz at the
Pawnshop" fame.

I'm afraid that the use of an Ardunio to control the speed means that
there is inevitably going to be some sort of digital harshness to the
sound, so this can never be a true audiophile player. Surely he should
have used a mechanical centrifugal governor instead?
