[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Where can I get some kool-aid?

it's been several years now since I stopped drinking the audiophile
kool-aid and for awhile it was really amusing to pick up one of the
audiophile magazines and marvel at just how absurd the audiophile
appeared. However now that all traces of that magic elixir have left my
system the only reaction I get whenever one of the audiophile magazines
arrives in the mail (yes I still have a few issues remaining on one or
two subscriptions since the subscriptions are ridiculously cheap) is
that of anger and frustration. Anger because what I now know to be
complete BS and nonsense fills page after page and frustration because
there is so little one can do to correct this situation. And so I ask
does anyone know where I can some of that magic kool-aid and once again
enjoy those glossy pictures and praise filled proseand lust once again
over all that super expensive equipment? Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure a power cord has to cost *at least* one thousand dollars
before it's considered "acceptable". Ha!

So where is the practical HiFi magazine that tells us how not to buy
overpriced nonsense?

So where is the practical HiFi magazine that tells us how not to buy
overpriced nonsense?
Or one that at the very least tells one how to spend one's money wisely
and not on cables, tubes, racks, power conditioners, etc. Now that would
be a most welcome addition to the audio landscape.

I have a subscription to "Sound & Vision", a magazine dedicated to home
theater and video and published by the same company that publishes
"Stereophile", in fact a few of the reviewers write for both magazines.
The thing is that reviews of cables and power conditioners never appear
in "Sound & Vision" since doing so would make the magazine a laughing
stock among videophiles. If only audiophiles had as much sense.

Hey Ralph,
Finding Kool-Aid again is very much like an ex-cult/religion member
finding "the way" again...

-------

Oh ye of little faith. Cast aside thy apostate ways and come rejoin the
fold!

For penance since you have upset the Almighty Stereophile, go buy a
minimum $1000 power cable and say 20 "Hail Absolute Sounds".

Don't forget to tithe regularly - just look at the list of charities
listed in the Advertiser section. Bring more believers to purchase a
MicroRendu here and there will add to your treasures in Audio Nirvana.

Be at peace... Ommmmm....

To return to the fold, you must recite the -Stereophada-:

"I testify that there is no magazine but -Stereophile- and that Atkinson
is its editor."
