I just love the sub-head on 'this \"review\" of another expensive USB
WARNING: This review is written for audiophiles and true believers in
the audiophile experience. Non-audiophile, bits are bits people,
continue at your own risk!
Has Audiostream ever published a negative review?

What's eatin' ya Bob?
Is it that someone or other makes a foo USB lead and charges the earth
for it, or is it that some individuals get sucked into believing the
BS?

The best policy IMO is to let them get on with it.
I don't pay any attention to it :)

I just think the sub head was pretty funny! I read those kinds of review
with mounting disbelief, and amusement. But it also occurred to me that
I don't often see negative reviews there.

Yeah, I saw that disclaimer and made a note of it in my last blog
post...

Phrases like "true believer" should be reserved for -religion-, not
engineered technology "created" by guys who went through technical
training based on principles of applied physics.

Disturbingly, it is in the domain of "faith" and "testimony" (as per my
'post a few months back'
that reviewers like these operate within.

One other thought. Realize that it would usually be false advertising
for a company to advertise directly that their product "sounds better"
when there is no proof. For example, Chord's claims of superior sound
from their ethernet cable and the UK Advertising Standards Association.
However, if the "audiophile press" becomes the mouth piece to make such
claims, I guess this distances the companies from direct claims of false
advertising, right?

In this way, reviews such as these end up being no different than the
late night -*"infomercial"*-. As others have observed, there seems to be
a paucity of negative reviews (and may I also add, a bizarre love of
Synergistic gear from this reviewer in particular).

Archimago's Musings: (archimago.blogspot.com) A 'more objective'
audiophile blog.
