Well, hopefully not quite so bad as that.

I'd been away for a while, and went to use the TP for the first time
yesterday in a couple of weeks. I started some music, which showed as
playing on my Controller, but no sound was coming out of the speakers.
It also showed as playing on the TP (current title displayed, time
counting down), but the "dials" weren't showing any action. It was like
the stream was coming in but the preamp wasn't getting the post-DAC
signal.

I haven't had the opportunity to fiddle yet, but anyone have any
suggestions?

And just to be clear, the network is fine, and other SB devices play
normally. The receiver that is fed by the TP works fine for other
sources (tuner, CD, etc).

first thing I'd do is a xlinx reset. remove power from transporter,
point IR remote at transporter while pressing the "1" key. Keep
pressing 1 key and restore power to Transporter, you can release the 1
key when you see a message about xlinx reset on the transporter screen.

First thing -I'd- do is reboot your server.

Oh, yes, good idea I thought. So I did it and proceeded to play a track
successfully. Thanks you Gary!. But wait. . .

I went back to the original tracks I'd tried to play, anxious for a
first listen. Al Jarreau, My Old Friend. My CD, ripped with dBp.

Every track on the album is silent. Tags are there, album art is there,
track appears to play (counts down the time), but there is no sound at
all. The CD itself plays normally. So there was nothing wrong with the
TP at all, just with the rip.

I will now try to re-rip with dBp, but this is very strange -- not seen
anything like this before.

Do these ripped tracks play on your computer? Winamp or foobar or WMP?

They are devoid of actual content aside from tags and art, and do not
play anywhere. Or rather they "play", in the sense that they progress
through an empty file, counting down the time.

I suspect the problem arose from some difficulties I encountered with
the dBp rip function after installing a new server. dBp ripper produced
error messages and said rip was unsuccessful, but sometimes created
files, which I think were like these problematic ones. There were two
problems, the main one being that the server archive's drive letter was
set as lower case d, but the dBp writing path had upper case D. This
appeared to abort the rip, but not until the file structure had been
created on my primary archive. In this case I seemed to have copied the
"empty" files from the primary archive to the server.

Just to be clear, I use the multi rip function to rip all at once to
three locations, two in flac and one 320 mp3.

A re-rip solved the problem.
