Does audio gears measurements tell the whole stories?

I have long time wondered why any electronic audio gears that has
measured performance characteristics of linear frequency responses and
inaudible levels of noises and distortions will sound different from
each other. Can someone offer advice please?

This unprovable IMO.

The only way to prove audibility is in a double blind ABX test, with a
statistically valid outcome. I don't know about you, but after the tenth
time I've heard the same music clip, I hardly remember my own name and
certainly I start to lose a grip on my hearing. So although these tests
can certainly result in a lack of evidence, this doesn't constitute hard
positive evidence in my view.

On the other hand, it's is very true, in my experience, that sighted
uncontrolled listening is very open to psychological bias.

I believe that the current "standard" raft of measurements is lacking
but I don't have any evidence for this. I don't mind that I don't have
evidence.

The audiophile community seems to have a continuing appetite for better
and better DACs for example, even though we are told that they are not
necessary. I think you can hear things in some high end systems that you
can't in "normal" systems, this explains some of the difference in
opinions. Also, a lot of the difference in opinions is probably down to
psychological bias of purchasers of said high end DACs. It's a mixture
of these two factors IMO.
