Having auditioned the Linkwitz Orion, which I thought was truly special,
I would love to hear the latest LX521. Both are active open-baffle
designs.

I auditioned the Linkwitz Orion several years ago, one of my favourite
speakers so far, and I would love to hear the latest LX521. Both are
active open-baffle designs.

here is a test of the Orion against some 300€ active Behringer
http://de.scribd.com/doc/103681479/SLReport10-05
Not a bulletproof one-by-one test because of EQ used but shows how well
simply correct done hardware can do. The Behringer i stumbled across
sometimes already and the really measure superb, better as some Utopia
High-End 2-ways for sure :)

Yeah I've seen that report before. My statement was just anecdote, of
course, not research, take it as you will!

That is an amazing project! As an avid DIY'er and hobbyist woodworker,
I'm very impressed. I bought my N802's in 2002 and still admire the
design and finish quality as well as the sound!

Sorry, i did not mean it in that negative way. These Orions are for sure
well thought out speakers that impressed many people with their natural
sound. I think they are as good as these dipoles can get!
I only posted that because i lately stumbled across some threads talking
about the Behringer. The value you get with these active speakers is
incredible.
It also shows what good developement and a user oriented business is
able to produce for the fraction of cost against high-end manufacturers.

Awesome.. He is a pro. More than his carpentary skills, the last comment
in the thread is interesting. He basically recreated a BW802 by
sleuthing around !!!
