Hi all, I'm looking at maybe buying some music from Linn's website, they
offer a range of formats including two different flac ( which I use ) ,
my question is, does the TP support FLAC 24bit*88.2kHz

CD's -> EAC/Grip -> ReadyNas NV -> CAT5 -> Sonicwall -> TP -> Meridian
551 -> Monitor Audio Gold -> Me :-)

It should play files up to and including 24 96. One caveat; if you
synchronize with other players like Boom, you will be limited by the
capability of that player.

John Marshall
LMS 7.8 running on a DIY PC, Windows 7 64 bit, (1) Transporter, (4)
Booms & (2) CSOS SqueezeliteWands. SqueezePad & iPeng for controllers.
Music Room setup: Transporter => Rotel RC1070 preamp => Rotel RB1080 2
channel amp => Bowers & Wilkins 805 Speakers.
Headphone setup: SqueezeliteWandQuad => Mytek 192 DAC => Woo Audio WA22
balanced headphone amp => Sennheiser HD800 headphones.

Ok thanks LinnRecords have a compilation of The Stones for sale so I
suppose the quality doesn't really matter but I like to get the best
possible, thanks again

Files higher than 24/96 will automatically be downsampled [to the
highest natively supported res] by the server, so they also play just
fine on the TP. Just mentioning in case you can get the even-higher-res
files for approx the same price - one sometimes can.

Sure, but there is little point in wasting net bandwidth and disk space
if the original comes from analog tape - there won't be any audible
difference between a 96 or 192 kHz sample rate.

Diskspace and bandwidth (in the relevant quantities) is kind of flatrate
for me (I need need x^n times more drivespace for other reasons). Anyhow
at the same price, I would take the highest res available out of pure
curiousity. Others have different premisses.

except there are other issues of 24/192 vs 24/96. For example, see this
info where 192 could be WORSE than 96:

Anyhow, I have a transporter, but can't test the original question
because I don't have any files that are 24/88.2.

Yes I know about that one - it actually makes the super-high-res files
even more interesting :)

Btw 24/88 plays fine here.

Yes, 24/88 plays great on the Transporter...

I have a bunch of DSD/SACD rips in this format so having this feature is
a "must" for me. If the Transporter did not handle this sample rate
well, I would have likely moved on!
