makes for a good read.

i have to admit i find myself using headphones more often than ever
before.

i cringe at the thought that finally my trusted 2.0 audio system will
become obsolete. :-D

Personally I dislike wearing headphones
is that because of "in your head" spatial resolution? that annoys me
when i focus on it, but it's easy to forget. earphone comfort is very
important to me. the Shure SRH1540s are absolutely stellar when it comes
to long term comfort. they have become my fav headphone of all time.

I just don't like the sensation of having headphones on my head; I feel
encumbered

When exactly was that article written? Somewhere it says "by 2014 ...."
which suggests some of the 20 years has already elapsed.

I can't imagine that we will lose 2.0 audio systems. There is a vinyl
resurgence in Uk as I write. You need 2.0 for that at least.

I would have loved to see a graph of the achievable dynamic range vs.
the actual dynamic range used by popular music over the years... :)

We heard it all before - surround did not kill stereo, the CD did not
kill the records - so don't be afraid. I am SURE that headphones with
whatever features will not kill the 2/0 audio system.

No, but they would have killed social listening, if smartphones hadn't
done it already...
