Given the same audio file on any of the mediums you're asking about you
should not be able to tell any difference in the sound from the Touch.
This is because this is just data being fed to the Touch which then
passes this on either through one of the digital or RCA outputs. When
you say laptop HDD are you talking about putting a laptop HDD in some
type drive caddy and connecting it to the Touch or are you talking about
actually running squeezeserver on a laptop which then feeds the Touch?
From the way you've framed the question it sounds like you're asking
about using "tiny squeeze" on the Touch rather than feed the Touch from
a external squeezeserver. In either case the result should be the same.

yupp - but everytime there is a background behind that makes (in some
cases) sense.

Since u USB Stick is in the USB Specs - a USB Stick will run fine.
Since a Harddisk is more complex it has two Magnetical Engines and not
all of them are in the USB given specs.
So they need an extra power supply (supported) or an USB Y Cable that
had two source connectors - one if only for the power the other is for
USB Data also.

If the power supply is badly make - it may can be that you hear a
strange noise. But if so its all about the quality of the powersupply.

So this background it too complex for those who are talking about
differences - but its quite simple and if "more" will tell others "why"
these audiophile nonsense would stay in the corner it belongs to.

cheers

I would so much like to agree with you. But there is one fallacy in your
argument - it assumes a rational, scientific explanation will win over
superstition, hearsay and voodoo. Unfortunately I am starting to think
it is a dangerous assumption. Not just in audio...
