If you believe in CD pens and LP demagnetizers, then this should be easy
to swallow.

Darnit! Wished I'd read this before I ripped all my CD's. I had hundreds
of CD's in their jewel cases with un-masked bar code information sitting
right next to my PC as I was ripping them. My guess is the bad
information field has been inserted into my rips! Now I'm going to have
to re-rip all my CD's. I'll find an isolated location, like maybe
Antarctica, to do my rips. Perhaps we could start a crowd funded project
to create an isolation chamber for ripping CD's to ensure the rips
aren't contaminated by these bad information fields. ;-)

Wow.

Here I was thinking this Machina Dynamica was a joke site... I noticed
all the "new" products on the website. I suspect revenue was getting a
bit lean and needed revitalizing.

I guess it's no joke (at least for one Geoff Kait)!

When I first came across this site some years ago, I though it was
hilarious. I was impressed with the effort he put into the amazing

I discovered that people do actually buy this stuff!

Indeed. And the fact that the mainstream audiophile publications and
forums are not jumping on this stuff is really the most telling part. If
this is what the audiophile community refers to when talking about
"keeping an open mind", then why should we think all their other claims
are not just as much foo? Or in other words - if the audiophile
community really was about facts rather than faith, why aren't they
loudly condemning extreme foo like this? I guess we all know the
answer...

are not just as much foo? Or in other words - if the audiophile
community really was about facts rather than faith, why aren't they
loudly condemning extreme foo like this? I guess we all know the
answer...
And the answer is: MONEY (as in advertising revenue)

By the way I agree with your point about if nonsense like the Machina
Dynamica line of snake oil is not directly called out as pure garbage
(which is not since basically the high end audio magazines and web sites
neither condemn nor recommend these fringe products because they can
then "hide" behind their silence with statements like "we don't
recommend these products, we just try to keep an open mind") then where
does one draw the line separating nonsense from reality.

So is that new ultimate CD player really "revolutionary" is that just
more audiophile hype? Does one USB cable really make a "night and day"
improvement to the sound or is that just more audiophile hype?

When the audiophile gurus play fast and loose with the boundaries
between real science and science fiction it give people and audiophiles
with a normal amount of healthy skepticism little choice but to throw
everything that these gurus say or write onto the worthless garbage
pile.

Of course the standard counter argument is that everything is possible.
Yeah sure everything is possible but that doesn't mean that I'm going to
run out and buy yards and yards of garlic garland to hang over my
windows and doors to ward off those nasty vampires. Despite everything
being possible (and vampires existing is just one of many, many
"possibilities"), vampires don't exist, just like the Easter bunny told
me.

I think that guy is truly unhinged ? he has some kind of issues , he
misinterprets all kinds of quantum physics and whatnot in ways that I
barely can imagine .

He missed a simple but powerfull truth about the current knowledge in
physics, the issue of scale . there are new physics to be had but for
our everyday life what newton and maxwell discovered covers most of it
with a pinch of Einstein etc(for our gps etc ) .
Subtle quantum effects and new things like dark matter are weaker than
neutrinos and you are penetrated by billions of those daily (it takes
1-4 ligthyears off lead to stop one ) .
If we can detect neutrinos which we can any new novel type of field
would have been already if its so powerfull that it alters sound (moving
air molecules around ) .

On the local scale we know how things work (but not mr kait )
electronics are fully understood , and will continue to be that whatever
comes in the future .
What about the " idiot field " emenating from some humans and spreads
via social interaction :P bad joke but a true one , there are socially
spread disorders .

I thinks he's actually gone over the edge rather than coldly predating
on unsuspecting audiophiles ?

If you want to peddle stuff to audiophiles you can write far better
techno babble than this . after a while the punters do it for you and
you can cite the testimonials you get in the mail .

What a nutjob. I wonder, however, if he's speaking more about the bar
code stickers that contain the RFID chips. That would, at least,
introduce an element of technology involved as opposed to stray bits of
printer ink just randomly interfering with our brains. I don't know
much about the RFID chips, but I believe they are dormant until a
querying device asks them to transmit. Regardless, the whole thing is
sadly humorous.

No it's actually the information innthe bars ? This is a parallell to
good old Peter w belt , you where then suposed to cover text on CD's
LP's and pickups with some tape or sticker .

Rfid's the reader must also power them and read the response in close

This kind of craziness goes way back to the 1980s. Here in the UK there
was a (highly regarded at the time) HiFi journalist called Jimmy Hughes
who claimed all sorts of loopy things would improve your listening
pleasure, including:

- adding an extra sheet of paper inside any books that had an odd (or
was it even?) number of pages.
- placing a bottle of "treated" water under the sink. (I don't recall
how the water had to be treated).
- making sure all the screws on your light switches and power sockets
were aligned so their slots were horizontal.

Loonies like this keep the world an entertaining place, as long as we
don't take them seriously.

Oh no search for machinadynamica on the net ( geof kait runs
machinadynamica ) you find all kinds off silly gadgets like the clever
little clock and this gem the intelligent box

http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/machinadynamica2/ib.html

Disclaimer 6moons are either total shills peddling anything and/or
audiophools of the highest degree their "reviews" are 100% useless
probably in most cases actually marketing from the brand under test .

This is actually no more silly than other audiophile truths that can
sound more plausible due to that the " tech talk " is very close to real
engineer speak unless you scrutinise it further ....
Many without end engineering knowledge have a hard time to see that .
So the takeaway is to figure how does it work is money somehow involved
.

As I said earlier I'm not sure if he is a con artist or in need of
intervention and treatment and care ?

Quantum Dots !!
The they contain the quantum material !? Just like people are afraid of
chemicals or atoms .

( hint everything is chemicals atoms and quarks etc aka quantum material
)

Besides quantum dots ? It is not a bit against the principle of the
uncertainty principle ... And if the dot is big enough to be visible
then it's so many billions of atoms in it so every QM effect is averaged
out to ordinary physics

The problem will eventually fix itself . Our great leaders are commonly

The terrifying part comes to me at other situations like the crocery or

a much larger problem .

And even worse, in some places they are using the 2nd amendment to claim
the right to enter restaurants, shopping centers, etc. with guns
strapped to their hips (like the old west) or rifles hanging on their
