Discussion:
Transporter V 2.2 versus V 2.5

Hello,
I just bought a Transporter and while I was looking for some links on
how to tweak it, I realized that there must be two different versions of
the Transporter.
On some pics one can see a Version 2.2 and on others there is a V 2.5.
Does anybody know about any differences between the two versions?
Thanks!

Cheers
Kai

Hello,
no ideas anybody?
I cannot imagine that nobody has seen that there are two different
versions of the PCB.

Hello,
am I wrong or arenŽt people from Logitech reading and writing in this
forum?
So I would guess that at least they should know about the fact and
possible differences.
Why should there be two versions and no differences between them?
It seems really odd to me that I should be the first and only person who
has stumbled about this mistery.

Cheers
Kai

Hi Kai,

Not many people from Logitech here for obvious reasons. Also, it never
was Logitech's official support forum.

They may have changed the PCB when they removed the knob?

regards

I would assume that the first one was version 1.0. So there may be 15 or
more versions. :)

Definitely not. They removed the knob when they build a last set of
Transporters from leftover parts and didn't have any knobs left. No new
boards built for that.

I doubt then really manufactured 15 different versions. Even for one
Transporter will have had pretty low volume

Hi guys,
both pics come from Transporters with the knob.
I thought the member "seanadams" is/was with Logitech and actually the
guy who designed the Transporter?
That was at least my impression reading through some threads in which he
posted some answers.

Cheers
Kai

Sean Adams started SlimDevices which did create the Transporter and all
other Squeezebox players. But he sold out to Logitech years ago and
likely does not log in here much anymore. Might try pm'ing him on here,
maybe he gets notices of pm's? Dunno. He's a great guy and would
likely answer any of your questions, if you can find him. :)

seanadams has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be
allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your
message to him/her.
Too bad.

Hi guys,
since nobody wants to contribute to this thread I might as well continue
answering myself.
Looking through pictures of the Transporter there are also two different
versions of the front plate.
One says Slim Devices, the other just transporter.
IŽm assuming that the change took place after Logitech took over Slim
Devices. People shouldnŽt attribute the Transporter with Slim Devices
any more.
So the units with tarnsporter on the front plate should be the younger
versions.
Maybe this was also point of time when they introduced the V 2.5.
My unit has Slim Devices on the front plate and V 2.2 on the pcb.
Maybe somebody with transporter on the front could open the housing an
have a look in regard to the version?

Cheers
Kai

Hi guys,
in the meantime IŽve bought another Transporter, this time in black und
with TRANSPORTER on the front plate.
IŽm selling the silver one since my other equipment is in black.
Guess what I saw, when opening the case of the black one?
*V 2.3*
I then compared both versions in regard to the PCB and differences
between components, but I couldnŽt detect any differences.

Cheers
Kai
