Discussion:
why conversion to 16/44 to LSB Touch?

if you look at the attached, you will see that for some reason LMS seems
to device to convert a 24/192 file all the way down to 16/44 (based on
the bandwidth), instead of the 24/96 i would expect (due to the fact i
use toslink).

my LMS runs on Ubuntu. the LSB Touch gets stuff via wireless. There is
no synch with a lesser player active, and the file settings are all set
to native. Anything else worth checking?

That is actually a UI bug it always says 705 kbps when dowsampling or
just plain converting to flac whatever the real rate is .

The see what you really get , you enable some of the transcoding
debugging a look in the server.log on what it really used for settings
to SoX or whatnot.

Bit doing this > 5 year sagor or somesuch , i'm pretty much 100%
convinced you get the rigth rate .

My preamp/processor present the incomming rate and i always see 96 k or
88.2 k for any hirez .

I whish they fixed this , the number is just a placeholder and is
roughly correct for redbook material , so not many notice .

I think the thing is that LMS or Touch may not actually now ( or have
any means to find out ) what the final rate comming out the transcoding
process is .

A better fix would be to replace this message with a simple "transcoded
to Flac" and just omit the guessed bit rate . :)

oddly enough the Benchmark DAC2 reports it *is* getting data at 24/96.
just curious if this is a known quirk of the LMS interface?
