Discussion:
Are Audiophiles anal retentive?

I would like to ask the forum's audiophiles if they think they are anal
retentive.

In other words, pickier, more demanding and generally more full of
themselves then others.

I will admit that I am fully anal retentive. Any others willing to admit
it?

I was over my daughter's house yesterday to watch my granddaughter and
hated their
audio setup i secretly started changing speaker position ,volume
levels(they have some
of my older equipment) ,Cambridge dac filter, etc. This could have been
the ultimate
anal retentive move.

I would like to hear from others on whether they think audiophiles are
anal retentive.

I won't go as far as fiddling with somebodies home setup, but whenever I
drive someone else's car I can't help but set all "tone controls" to
zero/neutral, deactivate "sound effects" and deactivate "Loudness" :)

hmm
when i drive my 78 Lotus Esprit that has (like all my cars) the Tone
Controls near my right feet i am really happy when my right ear listen
to the treble of two 48 Webers and the left ear listen to the bassdrum
from the exhaust and whenever the car drives the engine in overrun mode
i'd like to listen to that magic orchestral sound thats not aviable in
24bit 96khz.

Gruss

Are audiophiles anal retentive?

I would say very much so since just about every audiophile has their
head firmly planted up their rear end, which is definitely a severe form
of anal retentiveness.

One time I asked a friend why she hadn't sorted her CD:s alphabetically.
She, however, thought it unneccessary, as she only hade five of them.

The following has nothing to do with audio, but I can't help sharing it.
Another friend of mine met a guy she had never seen before while he was
eating chocolates out of a box with different sorts of chocolates. He
ate them row by row, top-down, left to right. My friend thought to
herself "What a man!". Now they have kids.

I do this in every rent car. And all seem to have treble turned way down
and bass maxed out. Really?

Really as in that sound "signature" has REALLY made Dr. Dre a lot of
money and quite possibly a helluva lot more.
